F14's Buzz Morgan City

>> Monday, September 29, 2008

This happened yesterday. It was absolutely incredible! The whole entire house shook for a few seconds before the jets ever got here. I thought it was an earth quake. I ran outside (along with everybody else in the neighborhood) and looked up. There were 4 jets flying over doing minor tricks. It was absolutely amazing.

Here is the article from the paper:

F14’s Buzz Morgan City
If you heard the thunder
Sunday mid-afternoon and wondered
how that could happen
with clear blue skies prevailing,
you weren’t totally wrong.
The noise was from four F-14
jet fighters from the Texas Air
National Guard and the “treat”
was compliments of Lt. Col. Billy
Bostic, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Jerry Bostic of Morgan City.
Bostic learned to fly at the local
airport in Patterson and his
“day job” is as a pilot for Southwest
Airlines.
He and his colleagues were in
the area over the weekend, having
performed a flyover at the
end of the National Anthem at
the beginning of the LSU-Mississippi
State football game in
Baton Rouge on Saturday
night.
They gave a call and said
“hello” to Perry Flying Center
and the Patterson Airport on
their way home to San Antonio,
Texas, on Sunday.
Perry Flying Center President/
Owner Ken Perry said the
jets did individual passes at the
airport and they also buzzed the
Morgan City area before resuming
their trip home.

Cool Cucumbers! It is awesome isn't it? It gives me cold chills in the states and reassurance we are being protected...

When we lived in Houma, one of the owners of Hammonds Airport had a son in the AF. During practice runs he buzzed the airport to let his parents know if he was coming home that weekend. One round was Friday night, Two rounds was Saturday. We asked about it and as long as they had cleared air space it did not matter where they flew to practice. It was a matter of several minutes to get from Mississippi to us. Nuts huh? We always knew when Mike was coming home. lol...

We have them buzzing here every day. Our Navy has a base and Singapore has their own armed services. We are in their flight plan. It is great during the day, but the night flights are a bit annoying.
