Horse week! (part 1)

>> Wednesday, March 24, 2010

My mother in law sends these wonderful little animal units for Raelee to work on. They are getting more fun as she gets older. I know they are a ton of work on the other end to put together, but they are well received on this end! Well worth the effort!

This last unit was about horses. She sent a handmade packet of information about horses (what they eat, kinds of horses, size, how fast they run, etc) with little activities to do (as mommy to drive 40 mph..that's how fast horses can run). She has handwriting, math, art, etc all in this unit. Wonderful!!!  She also sends (usually) a book, painting things, drawing, a toy or stuffed animal and other things.

Fun book (one of those where you turn the page and it has the plastic parts of the animal)

Worksheets (and yes, my child freely admitted to eating grass...must have a chat with her..lol)
Stickers

I went to the library and got horse books:

Handwriting

Information: (Raelee proceeded to tell me that we saw draft horses in the parade on the day mommy left the front door wide open while we were gone. *sigh*)

Fun stuff!

Artsy stuff (love that Raelee is painting now with more rhyme and reason...it wasn't long ago that she just slopped paint on the wood and called it good)

We still haven't finished all of the activities, but we are just about done. She had fun learning about horses and had a fun field trip out of it as well! (next blog post)

To Grandma: She requests frogs next ;)
