Raelee's Birthday Surprise!!! (part 1)

>> Tuesday, June 1, 2010

You all knew that I was surprising Raelee with a trip to Disney Land Paris for her birthday. The surprise was revealed with a specially sewn outfit (minnie theme), a minnie mouse hat, and a lanyard with trading pins on it.  I knew it would be the lanyard that would reveal it. The only place she has ever traded pins is in Disney World. We told her pretty quick after she made the connection. She bounced off of the walls for 10 minutes after we told her. She was SO excited!!

It's going to take me a while to post pictures from it. We are off and running again today so I don't have time to post many.  Here is Part 1:

Every person that is 'all things Disney' has a moment that their breath catches and they KNOW they are in Disney...and it's going to be a magical day. Mine always catches at the gate.  Disneyland Paris didn't disappoint.

It was around this time that RAELEE'S breath caught. It was fun to hear her "WOW" moment.

Here is the Front Gage shot....I'm excited to have this one to add to our collection of them from when Raelee was 2 and 5 at Disney World.

We went to City Hall to get her "Birthday" Badge.  It's written in English and French! How cool!  She also got a call from Mickey Mouse while she was there.

Main Street looking at Sleeping Beauty's Castle.

Of course there were characters!  Chip and Dale are always fun....and they were today. They kept picking on each other with the signature book this time.  We got a few other signatures too...Mickey, Minnie, Jesse from Toy Story, Goofy, Pluto.

Pin Trading wasn't NEAR as popular here as it is in Disney World.  It took us nearly all day to find somebody wearing pins. She gladly traded with us. We were beginning to think that this was going to be our only pin trading chance. Turns out, a lot of the clerks had them. We just didn't go into any of the shops all day long until the end of the day. She was able to trade a few more times then.

Sleeping Beauty's castle was neat. Underneath it was the Dragons Lair.  It was dark and gloomy with a very nasty dragon in it. It was pretty neat.  You could also go upstairs and see the stained glass and a few other neat things up there. There will be pictures from that in another post.

And of course there are the shows :)

We had the LONGEST LUNCH EVER for her birthday. We ate at the Blue Lagoon in Pirates of the Caribbean. It took 2 solid hours. 2 hours is hard for a kid that is in Disneyland. However, there was a cake at the end and it was very yummy and worth it.

Can't be Disney without Small world.

And I think this picture needs no words.

Stay Tuned for Part 2
