Cool yet so disturbing

I saw obvious signs of something eating on our tomatoes so I examined further. There was a huge hole in the mato and I could see something moving inside. So we examined further. This is what we found when we cut it open. I have to find out what it is b/c now it's a pet. It's not hard to figure out what to feed it. 3 guesses?

Hornworms eat tomatoes, but I think that they are green. Still, I guess some sort of worm.
I was going to say hornworm, but they are green and that thing is just ugly.
I have no idea what it is, but at first glance I thought it was poop. roflmbo!! It looks pretty nasty!
