Daddy School

>> Wednesday, September 15, 2010

Raelee has it in her head that she is going to learn to build stuff out of wood. I know this comes from 2 things...her daddy does it and is very talented at it and also our super crafty hands on friends over at Gypsy Forest.  Daddy couldn't be more thrilled to be teaching her.

Before she gets her own little pile of tools and wood though, she needs to learn some basics from Daddy. He is very very good at feeding her little bits at a time and letting her work through one skill before he hands her another one.

Today was cutting. She wants to make a bench for her dolls.  She had to cut the legs of it first. That's what she worked on for a good hour and a half today. She asked multiple times for daddy to just cut them for her. Nope...you want a bench, you need to cut it yourself.  Here is Raelee doing just that.

I love her little hand straining in this next picture.  She is putting some muscle into it!

Such a look of determination.

She stopped to wipe the sweat.

She stopped to wax the blade (about 8 times..daddy said it didn't need more than one waxing..lol)

She also stopped to play with Buster. She stopped to catch a love bug. She stopped to eat.  She stopped when Daddy came to check on her status.  She begged daddy to finish it for her. He said no and told her she was doing good and went back around the corner.

This is the look on her face after that.

However, about 3 minutes later, the board wiggled!  She is getting close! That gave her a new zest.

DONE!!!! Now she only has 2 more to cut...rofl  BUT...she did it.  I imagine tomorrow they will work some more on it.

Now...go back and look at the pictures again. This is over an hour and a half. Look at her feet...behind her, by her side....etc.  Her dog. Never left her side the entire morning.  Honestly.  Goofy came out to check the status occasionally, and went back in to the AC.  Buster never left her side.

This would probably be the reason that this dog has new spots.

He got those the other day when she built and painted a birdhouse for a special friend.  He never left his spot under her...so he got new spots. :) I think they suit him, don't you think?  That's good, because they will be there for a while..lol

Great job Raelee! I look forward to seeing the finished product:)

Buddy shadows Amanda everywhere she goes. He will sit next to her, on her, or under her no matter what anyone else is doing. If someone tries to spank her (I was doing it playfully), he becomes a ferocious beast and lunges at you to playfully bite your hand until you walk away from his kid. Having him is so much fun!

How sweet. She is doing great - learning that there is a price to get nice things :-)
