You all know I'm a huge fan of local festivals. Usually they include local foods, music and lots of whatever the festival is about (Strawberries, Gumbo, Seafood, etc). This festival was a little different though. It didn't have thousands of people that inundated the town, it didn't have a hurricane stand on every corner, it didn't have carnival rides. It DID, however, have a lot of educational activities that were tailored to children. It fun things that helped to educate us about local wildlife. Most specifically, the American Black Bear. There were tables set up all over the place with activities at each station. We all learned a lot about black bears and other local wildlife.
This was my first time going to this festival but it certainly won't be my last. I'm hoping that next year, daddy gets to go with us.
Check out their website. Put it on your calendar for next year and plan on going!!

| The kids got to dress like a black bear (complete with black nose) and do the "a year in the life of the black bear" obstacle course...about a dozen times I think. They had a blast learning what it was like to be a black bear. |
| Gathering crawfish and crabs as a black bear. |
| We even went on a FREE swamp tour. It was really fun going back through the swamps and finding native plants and gators! |
| We had to pass through some pillars that I didn't think we would make it through..lol |
| There was even a real live doctor there doing surgery on stuffed animals. It was very cute. Raelee got her owl fixed. You can see she is a bit concerned about the surgery. |
| Raelee and the doctor took good care of her though and she came through with flying colors. |
| Station with sand and rubber paws. They got to make tracks with the different animals and then identify what kind it was. | | | |
